The re-united Berlin awaits visitors with such old sights as the Alexanderplatz with the TV Tower and the World Clock, the Museum Island, the Brandenburg Gate, the Memorial Church (Church Ruin), the linden trees of the “Unter den Linden”, and the shopping areas of the Kurfurstendamm.
The new sights include the restored Reichstag with the new Government District, the recently opened Bunker of Hitler and the new Holocaust Monument. The memories of the past turned into souvenirs, the remnants of the Wall became tourist attractions, and the once divided city is now one of the cultural centers of Europe.
All this is topped as crown jewels by the Neo-Classical and Rococo palaces of the Hohenzollerns in Charlottenburg and Potsdam.
