8000 Miles, 53 days and 8 countries

The eight-week adventure crossed the vast deserts of Central Asia, high mountain passes, and through crowded, bustling cities. Experience the GlobeRiders' difficult riding conditions, mechanical breakdowns and accidents, and understand why the intrigue of the Silk Road's history, countries and cultures made the hardships more than worthwhile. Ride along with us as we explore a part of the world seldom visited by foreign travelers.
We'll begin this magnificent ride at the Western terminus of the old Silk Road in Istanbul, Turkey, the only city that lies on two continents, Europe and Asia. Over the next 53 days, we'll travel through Turkey, then into Georgia and Azerbaijan. In Azerbaijan, we'll board an overnight ferry to cross the Caspian Sea, making landfall in Turkmenistan. Next comes Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, then mid-point of the tour, Almaty, Kazakhstan. From Almaty, we enter Northwestern China via the Korgas pass, and follow the Road through China to the Eastern terminus, Xian, city of the Terra Cotta Warriors.
