A visit here would be incomplete without a trip to the island. The legend of the formation of the island is mirrored in the founding of the three main cities of Ialissos, Kamiros and Lindos. In the 6th century BC, they decided to form another city, Rhodes Town, which eventually became more prosperous than them. The most interesting of the cities is Lindos, a major tour destination. A visit to its castle is a must because of its spectacular views. Its white washed houses, central church with exquisite frescos and the old houses of the admiral, which have been converted into restaurants, make for a very pleasant stroll inside the city. The villages of the island are so remote that very few travelers visit them. Emponas, Ajos Isidoros and Siana have beautiful squares where the taverna is always the focal point. End your visit in the villages at sunset, at the ruined castle of Monolithos.
