Bonjiorno! Welcome to Rome, one of my favorite cities in all of Europe. There is so much to do here;you can never spend enough time. Rome is called by many names. It’s “the eternal city.” Lord Byron called it “City of the Soul.” Well, whatever you call it, when you explore this amazing city, you’ll discover why Rome is not only the capital of Italy, but it was once the capital of the world.
The best place to start is where it all began, Palatino, also known as the Palatine Hill. The ancients believed this was the home of Romulus, the mythical founder of Rome. Next, we are off to the Pantheon, one of the most majestic and best-preserved monuments from ancient Rome. The present building which was rebuilt in 80 A. D. by Hadrian, now stands upon the ruins of the previous temple, built by Agrippa about a hundred years earlier. After the Pantheon, we visit the Arch of Constantine, the Forum, and finally, the Coliseum.
Then Laura takes a pause to SHOP! Prada! Gucci! Magli! Indulge! Hey…it’s only money!
After shopping up a hunger, Laura stops at The Piazza Novona, where she loves to arrive in the middle of the day, especially for lunch.
Laura then throws a coin into Trevi Fountain and enjoys a relaxing balloon flight. Look – it’s St. Peters with its dome at the Vatican! Talk about a bird's eye view of Rome!
Finally, for an adventure that’s more down to earth, Laura explores the Appian Way and the Vatican.
Ahh, Rome. It's a beautiful city with an incredible history!
