Luca lives with his mother, father and five-year-old brother, Guido, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Luca and Guido love soccer, Brazil's national sport, and when they're not playing a video game, they watch their Dad's amateur team play and practice. We visit Luca's parents at the arts organization where they work, meet Luca's grandparents, who take care of Luca and his brother after school, and visit the statue of Christ high above the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Louisa lives with her brother, grandmother, mother and father on their family farm in the rolling countryside inland from Rio, where her father grows vegetables and cattle. Louisa's mother drives the children each day to their school in the nearest city 50 miles away, where she teaches ballet. When they're home, the children entertain themselves by roller blading and bicycling, watching TV and playing video games. While Louisa's brother plays in his tree house, Louisa learns the words to a song by the Spice Girls.
