This film will take you to an exotic Central American country. Guatemala is sometimes called the “the land of the eternal spring, in spite of the fact that you will find several quite different regions here over an area just a little bit larger than the Czech Republic. A land constrained between two oceans offers not only beautiful and varied landscape, rich history, but also every bit as interesting present, original combination of ancient traditions and customs with a modern lifestyle. Venture on an adventurous journey to get familiar with this peculiar country, you will visit the current as well as the original state capital Antigua, picturesque landscape of the Guatemala mountains, you will come to know the life on the banks of the lake Atitlán in the midst of volcanoes, you will take part in an ancient ritual of honoring Maximón as well as shamans incantations in the town of the wizards Chichicastenang. You’ll be introduced to the lifestyle of the mountain people in the small village Todos Santos, you’ll set on a journey after the sacred bird of all Guatemalans – quetzal. You’ll find out how Guatemalan coffee, as well as the famous cardamom, is being grown and how the black community Garifuna lives on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. You’ll taste the mysterious atmosphere of the ancient Mayan city Quiriguá and visit places connected with the legend about the Spanish conqueror Hernán Cortéz. The last stop on the Guatemala learning trip will be the largest spiritual center of the Old Mayan Empire – Tikal in the midst of the Petén rainforest.
