Tulare County Tulare County is home to some of America's prettiest and most colorful small towns, and for its incredible giant Sequoia trees. Host Simon Kane begins his visit in Visalia, home to two cosmopolitan dining experiences, Cafe 225, and Depot, whose building once housed the original Southern Pacific Railway. Stroll the town of Exeter, famed for its murals, and gaze awestruck at Sequoia National Park's General Sherman Tree, the largest on the planet. Say "Cheese!"- Simon also visits Three Sisters Farmstead Cheese to witness the cheese making process, and tees off at the River Island Golf Course and Country Club. Calaveras County Mark Twain made this Gold Rush town famous with his 1865 short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County"- but its treasures were discovered long before that! Join Simon as he seeks out this region's "perfect places" and basks in its awesome scenery. Marvel at Big Trees State Park, experience the thrills, chills, and spills of white-water rafting on the Stanislaus River, rappel 165 feet into the extraordinary underground cave at Moaning Cavern, and go house boating on the New Melones Lake. Simon also visits the Ironstone winery, and lives out a Wild West fantasy in Millerosa. Paso Robles As far back as 1795, Paso Robles has been spoken of and written about as California's oldest watering hole, the place to go for springs and mud baths. Simon visits a number of its downtown establishments, including the Vinoteca wine bar with its weekly wine maker gatherings and tastings. The area boasts more than 100 wineries. Simon visits EOS, whose founders were also well known in motor racing, Treana, with its picturesque setting, and the Wineyard at Steinbeck Vineyards, which immerses visitiors in the winemaking experience.
