In this program of Travel Oz, a massive tongue of ice extending one hundred kilometers off the Antarctic continent, out deep into the Ocean it is the Mertz Glacier, part of Australia’s Antarctic territory, and named in honor of the dead hero of one of Australia’s early explorations here in the Antarctic.
Also the Long Paddock...what was once a transport route for sheep and cattle used by Stockmen and drovers now offers more than just a rich history as the Two Tims encounter paddle wheelers and bare foot skiing.
Then we head to the Valley of the Giants a place with some very tall and impressive trees dating between four and five hundred years old live. The towering forests cover some 20-thousand hectares, and are made up of some of the tallest species of trees in the world.
