“Down, but Not Out” Much more than a travel video, this uplifting program captures the resilient spirit of the people of the Gulf Coast. Join John Holod and Jodie Ginter on their 1,700- mile trip from Sanibel Island in Florida to Padre Island in Texas, and into the heart of the Gulf Coast. Holod and Ginter spotlight all the great activities to do, places to visit, and tours to take. They also provide information about life-changing volunteer opportunities to help rebuild the region in the devastating wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. You’ll visit the places where the locals go, including the Dollar Bill Bar at the Cabbage Key Inn, where, legend has it, Jimmy Buffett was inspired to write his hit song, “Cheeseburgers in Paradise.” The J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge, the Gulf Islands National Seashore, and the Atchafalaya Swamp are just a few of the precious opportunities to glimpse an amazing array of wildlife and flora and fauna. Along the way, Holod and Ginter share invaluable travel planning tips that will save you time and money. This program visits: - Mote Aquarium, FL
