He assigns Commando Cody, scientist and man of action with a secret flying suit, to investigate. EDITORIAL REVIEW:

George Dewey Wallace [June 8, 1917 July 22, 2005]was an American stage and screen actor. Wallace co-starred with Mary Martin in the Broadway musical Jennie and was nominated for a New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for playing the male lead in New Girl in Town opposite Gwen Verdon. But today he may be best remembered for playing Commando Cody in the movie serial Radar Men from the Moon. Aline Towne (7 November 1919 2 February 1996) born Fern Aline Eggen, also known as Fern Aline Waller, was an American film and television actress, best remembered for her lead roles in 1950s Republic serials. Towne was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Towne appeared in dozens of roles on television, in series such as Lassie, Leave It to Beaver, Sea Hunt, Wagon Train and The Donna Reed Show. She died in Burbank, California in 1996. Roy Barcroft (7 September 1902 - 28 November 1969) was an American character actor famous for playing villains in B-Westerns and other genres. Roy was born Howard Ravenscroft, to a farming family in Nebraska in 1902. In 1917 be joined up with the United States Army to fight in France in World War I, where he was wounded in action. After leaving the army he drifted through several jobs (including ranch hand, roughneck, railway laborer and seaman) before re-enlisting and being stationed in Hawaii. In 1929 he moved to California and worked as an extra and a salesman. He was discovered while acting in an amateur theatre production (a hobby he took up to improve his speaking voice as a salesman) and cast in the serial S.O.S. Coast Guard. He worked for many studios in the years that followed until 1943 when he signed an exclusive 10-year contract with Republic. Under this contract, he starred in almost 150 films and serials, becoming instantly recognisable as the villain to the audiences of the day. His career slowed with the decline of B-Westerns but he found work in television and B-Movies during the 50s and 60s. Barcroft died of Kidney Cancer at the Motion Picture Country Hospital in 1969, survived by his wife, Vera Thompson, and his three children. The Internet Movie Database records 365 roles over his career. William Bakewell also known as Billy Bakewell, (2 May 1908 - 15 April 1993), was an American actor, who achieved his greatest fame as one of the premiere juvenile performers of the late 1920's and early 1930s.

USER REVIEWS:

Commando Cody, 'Sky Marshal of the Universe', works with American scientists Joan Gilbert and Ted Richards in the development of a flying suit and a rocket to the Moon. When the nation's defenses are being sabotaged and destroyed, Cody learns that an atomic-gun is being used and that the men on the moon are the culprits. Cody, Joan and Ted take off in a rocket to the moon and, upon arrival, Cody is captured by moon-henchmen, working for Retik, who seeks to capture and rule the earth. But, at the end of chapter one, Cody appears to be in no position to keep Retik from achieving his goal. Written by Les Adams {longhorn3708@windstream.net}

A really fun "sci-fi" serial from the fifties. All the episodes are included, which is actually why I bought this set, instead of having to order two separate discs when it seemed like one or the other was always missing. I've always been a sucker for these campy types of things, but I was pleasantly surprised when my kids, ages 2 and 4, got into the series as well. And how can you argue with an American Commando using a jetpack to foil an alien dictator who took over the moon? Written by Arthur
