Abandoned by her husband, whom she had married against her parentís wishes, Sharon Applegate (Lila Lee) is forced by poverty to leave her son Laurie (Dickie Moore) with her father Mr. Morley (Claude Gillingwater). Angered by his daughterís elopement, Morley - a rich but surly, sour and ill-tempered man - agrees to keep Laurie on the condition that Sharon will keep away from him. When the stock market crashes suddenly, the only wealth Morley is left with is his grandson and his daughter. Will the charming Laurie and his devoted tutor Professor John Applegate (Onslow Stevens) succeed in bringing the family back together?

"In this timeless classic film from A2ZCDS, director Frank Strayer brings to life the heart-rending story of a mother whom fate seems to have abandoned. Forsaken by her husband for whom she had given up a luxurious life, Sharon is now deprived of the privilege of seeing her son Laurie, whom she loves dearly. Strayer has captured the motherís emotional upheaval in a characteristically discerning manner. Seven-year-old child artist Dickie Moore too has rendered a memorable performance. His enactment of both sad and happy scenes speaks of genius in the making. The other notable contribution to the success of this unforgettable vintage film is that of Claude Gillingwater, whose portrayal of a cantankerous and crusty old man is astonishingly life-like. Together, they have taken a plot which may have been written off as ordinary, and added that extra bit to make this an extraordinary film. This is a wonderfully enacted drama about a fatherís love for his daughter and a motherís love for her son. Donít miss it this outstanding old movie! "
''In Love with Lifeí is an unforgettable old movie and has touched me to the core. The Dickensian overtones are especially appealing. Lila Lee and Dickie Moore are totally convincing in their pathos-filled roles. I hope they never remake this one - it cannot be improved upon....''

"Iím no fan of tear-jerkers, but ĎIn Love with Lifeí canít be ignored - the story is to real to come across as the usual emotional manipulation. The story is timeless in its message - a strong thread of injustice pervades this world, and weíre all part of it. Dickie Moore is awesome."
