Fifty Rubies Productions

Fifty Rubies Productions was founded in 2000 by Dakkan Abbe, a former journalist and multimedia producer. The company produced the 2004 PBS documentary travel series Inside the Tuscan Hills, and many other projects including music and corporate videos.

Dakkan Abbe began his career as the San Francisco-based editor of Wine & Spirits Magazine. In addition to covering the booming California wine industry, he also wrote feature stories about southern France and Tuscany, and it was his journey to Tuscany as a journalist that ignited his interest in this fascinating region. After moving to New York City and spending some time working in public relations and web design, Mr. Abbe began work on the documentary travel series Inside the Tuscan Hills. He spent over five months shooting on location, resulting in the most in-depth travel series about Tuscany ever created. Premiering on PBS in the fall of 2004, the six-part series has gone on to air on over 160 stations nationwide.

Mr. Abbe is currently developing several other Italian and world travel television series. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife Camille and their dog Maggie.
