The city of Charlottetown is extremely proud of its very special place in history as the "The Birthplace of Confederation", for it was where the first meeting of the "Fathers of Confederation" was held in 1864. The city named in honour of Queen Charlotte of England, was incorporated in 1855.
Prince Edward Island features designated Scenic Heritage Roads that are listed on the official P.E.I. Travel Planning Map. These roads give you a special "Olde Time" feeling while travelling on them. Other breathtaking scenery includes sandy coastline, sandstone cliffs, ocean side look offs, lighthouses and more.
