Prior to 221 BC China was not a unified country, it consisted of seven major states, known as China, Qin, Chu, Qi, Yan, Han, Wei and Zhao. Of these seven, Chu was the most powerful while Qi was the richest. When the country was eventually unified, it was not done by Chu or Qi, but by Qin.
