When gangster Harold Gern ( Antony Carborne) takes his wife Evelyn ( Betsy Jones Moreland) and lawyer Martin ( Robert Towne) scuba diving, he doesn’t realize that the world will never be the same again. While they are underwater, the world is destroyed by a holocaust. A struggle for survival follows. Intense rivalry between the two men for the love of the only surviving woman leads to mistrust, jealousy and murder.

Running Time: 71 Minutes
MPAA Ratings: NR

"This fascinating low budget, science fiction movie was produced by Roger Corman while on a holiday in Puerto Rico. The plot centers on the destruction of the world by a nuclear device and the survival of a trio because they happen to be scuba diving when the explosion occurs. Antony Carbone’s portrayal of a carefree gambler is realistic and his depiction of a suspicious, possessive and jealous husband in the latterpart of the movie too is convincing. Betsy Jones Moreland uses her charm to good effect throughout the narrative and Robert Towne, who also wrote the screenplay, plays an excellent supporting role. RogerCorman captures the emotional interplay between the three characters, extremely well. The build-up of jealousy between the two men is portrayed beautifully. The selection of locations - especially the one for the final scenes - is excellent and shows Corman’s in sightfulness as director. The view of several boats bobbing up and down on the deserted waterfront creates a feeling of utter desolation. Witness this thrilling drama which has you guessing about who will win the hand of the last woman on earth till the end!"

Imagine that a nuclear bomb went off and suddenly there was only one girl left in the world and you were one of two guys. How hard do you think the two of you would fight over that girl? That's the question posed by this excellent Roger Corman exploitation film. Of course the girl is gorgeous and of course the guys come up w ith ever more ingenious ways to get her attention. This is a classic black and white"B" movie. (Written by Adina Bina, WA)

I've been a fan of Roger Corman films since the first time I saw Little Shop of Horrors on WPIX when I was about 10. Since then I've done my best to see all of his films that I can.

Yes, he's films are a lot like those of Ed Wood - they are all low budget Sci Fi or Horror Films and Last Woman on Earth is no exception.

Is it cheesy? Yes. Is the plot ridiculous? Yes. Did I have a good time watching it? Yes. (Written by Deacon)
